KRLX mix #20 (10/22/2018)
The summer of 2018 got off to a bang-up start when your DJ, turning out of the parking lot of the admin’s place of employ, got T-boned and totaled his father’s Accord. In commemoration of this (mercifully injury-free) incident, “Crawling From The Wreckage” spins songs of vehicular mania (“Jaguar”), misfortune (“Indianapolis”), and mishap (“Always Crashing in the Same Car”). From the Dave Edmunds’ title track, the playlist weaves its way through the abundant teen death genre of the mid-’60s, veers into some New Wave and punk, then swerves Americana-ward before coming to a halt with a selection by The Beatles, who memorialize a possible member of the House of Lords who should have noticed that the lights had changed.
