Sure, the 1980s were a wasteland of big hair, parachute pants, neon leg warmers, and the Reaganite beginnings of the country’s disastrous lurch to the right. But the music offered a bevy of saving graces.
In WTAW’s first-ever wholly ’80s-centric show, DJ Owen offers a bit of a grab bag of jangle pop, college rock, Paisley Underground, and similar sorts of ’60s-updated-for-the-’80s music. Like The Pastels, you might as well admit there’s nothing to be done but to dig into this slab of Gen X musical goodness.
